SAD RAD is a collective responsible for all-ages events, shared equipment, a jam space and a venue in Halifax, NS. Together with INK STORM Screen Printers Society, the groups share a space called RADSTORM (6050 Almon St. Suite 212). Meetings are every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 3pm. All are welcome.
SAD RAD was established in summer 2012 and first occupied a now-legendary spot above a radiator shop. After that space, the group enjoyed an entire year of decentralized, battery-powered, outdoor shows with occasional support from allied groups until at last, the unholy union of ink and noise gave rise to RADSTORM as we know it today.
SAD RAD utilizes a do-it-together approach to organizing and promoting while specifically gearing events towards the underage crowd and others who may not be represented or are alienated by the larger Halifax music scene. We aim to foster community building through trust, respect, communication and support. SAD RAD has zero tolerance for violence, hatred and all forms of oppression. Our space is alcohol and drug free, community funded, queer positive and totally punk. We encourage anyone who is interested to become a participant and help shape the way RADSTORM grows.
