eviction party - demo 2012 review & download

First and foremost I want to say that this demo tape is by far the best thing Eviction Party has ever done. They somehow learnt how to be a band since the release of 2008's "Forward, Always", despite being on hiatus for most of that time.

Musically these songs are subtle and awkward. There's no overdone melodies. No wanking or excessive noodling, Which is something that is hard to find in pop punk these days.

Lyrically I can't help but draw comparisons to my favourite per zines like Cometbus and AVOW in the way they are about nothing and everything all at once. I don't know if that's due to Todi's ability write about the little subtleties in day to day life, or due to my wasted youth. Regardless, if like me, your favourite pastimes include loitering and bumming smokes, you will likely feel like this tape is the narrative of your life.
